Google doodle celebrates Lebanon’s Independence Day

With influences from ancient cultures such as the Phoenicians, Assyrians, Romans, and Ottomans, Lebanon’s past has produced one of the region’s most diversified cultures.

Today’s Doodle honours Lebanon’s Independence Day, which marks the end of the French Mandate in the country in 1943.

Locals traditionally fly the national flag on their homes during a major parade involving Lebanese officials.

The Lebanese cedar tree, which is a historic emblem of tenacity and longevity, is portrayed in the middle of today’s Doodle artwork.

Happy Independence Day, Lebanon!
