Aminah Cendrakasih, a renowned Indonesian actress most recognised for her role of Lela in the television series Si Doel Anak Sekolahan, is honoured with this Doodle. Over the course of her five-decade career, she made approximately 120 film appearances.
Cendrakasih’s mother worked as an actress, and her father was a comedian. She explored a career in entertainment in her teens, following in the footsteps of her parents. She made her film debut in Oh, Ibuku (Oh, My Mother) in 1955. She appeared with her own mother in Gambang from Semarang that same year, and she was cast in the major part of Ibu dan Putri (Mom and Daughter).
Her stunning performance in the well-known dance film Serampang 12, which told the story of a coming-of-age love story, captivated viewers all over Indonesia. After that, her notoriety exploded. In the ensuing decades, Cendrakasih was cast in more than a hundred prominent television series and films, including Taman Harapan (Garden of Hope) and Si Doel Anak Sekolahan (Doel the Schoolchild).
Her two Lifetime Achievement Awards from the Indonesian Movie Awards and the Bandung Film Festival were given to her for her moving performances.
