Star Motel, a Kissimmee, Florida-based motel, houses more than 100 families and veterans dependent on the motel/hotel for their essential utilities like power and shelter. The residence of the motel is residing here for a long, but now the situation has turned out to be catastrophic. Many families are leaving star Motel as they cannot provide proper shelter facilities to their kids with no power or hot water at the site.

The previous management has not looked after the motel property that has made the Star Motel possess an unpleasant look. It has made us to raise funds to keep the motel running and for the Rising Star Transitional Program.

“When I first visited this place, it was completely in the state of despair. There was no dumpster on-site, and huge trash piles were everywhere. Moreover, the hefty amount also went missing by the previous management that made the situation worse. Moreover, the tenants are unable to pay rent to stay at the motel because of the COVID-19 laid downs. To keep the electricity running, I have to pay bills from my pocket. To curb these situations, I have now started a fundraiser not only to stabilize ourselves financially but to turn the Star Motel into a transitional housing facility,” said Teena Conley.

Talking further about her fundraiser Teena Conley said, “I have a dream to turn the motel into a safe place for staying for the homeless families and the veterans. Our Rising Star Transitional Program’ will accommodate the families for 21 months until they get the growth to stand on their own feet. This program will provide a secure homestay, but young people can develop the necessary skills to move out and live an independent and healthy life.”
