NFL releases the selected teams for 2024 International Games in London and Munich

The selected teams competing in the 2024 International Games in Munich and London were revealed today by the National Football League.

During the 2024 regular season, the Carolina Panthers will play in Munich, Germany, while the Chicago Bears, Minnesota Vikings, and Jacksonville Jaguars will all play in London. When the 2024 calendar is unveiled this spring, each team’s opponent, dates, and kickoff times will be disclosed.

The Jacksonville Jaguars will play their 12th game in the nation’s capital at Wembley Stadium as part of their multi-year commitment to play in the United Kingdom. Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the only NFL stadium purpose-built outside of the United States, will host games featuring both the Chicago Bears and Minnesota Vikings.

The Carolina Panthers will play in FC Bayern Munich’s home arena, Allianz Arena, in Munich, Germany, on another regular season game. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers defeated the Seattle Seahawks 21-16 in the NFL’s inaugural regular season international game in Germany on November 13, 2022, at Allianz Arena.

The NFL said last month that it will host its first-ever regular season game in South America in 2024 at Corinthians Arena in São Paulo, Brazil. In the months to come, the chosen squad for this historic first-ever NFL game in Brazil will be revealed before the 2024 NFL schedule is revealed.

“Taking our game to more fans around the world is a major priority for the league and its 32 teams, and we are delighted to be returning to London and Munich in 2024,” stated Peter O’Reilly, executive vice president, club business, league events, and international at the NFL. “Whether tackle or flag football, international passion for the game and the NFL continues to grow, and having our teams and their world-class athletes play games and engage with fans around the world is an important part of becoming a truly global sport.”

The NFL’s Global Markets Programme, which grants foreign marketing rights to NFL teams in countries outside of the United States to foster fandom and realise brand and financial potential, includes all four designated clubs that play in the United Kingdom and Germany. In the United Kingdom, the Bears, Vikings, and Jaguars hold the worldwide marketing rights, whilst the Panthers hold similar rights in Germany.

The league has stated that future international matches will take place once the renovations at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City are finished, despite the fact that there won’t be an international match in Mexico in 2024.

Up to four of the conference teams who are qualified for a ninth regular-season home game are now assigned to play an annual neutral-site international game as part of the NFL schedule expansion that took effect in 2021.

The NFL will have the authority to schedule up to eight regular season games abroad starting in 2025, following a recent vote by NFL teams to expand the number of league-operated overseas games from four (4) to up to eight (8) games a season. At a later time, new markets and host cities/stadiums for next seasons will be revealed.
