J-Hope Makes History as First Korean Artist to Chart Multiple Top 10 Albums

This week, J-Hope’s most recent solo effort, Hope on the Street Vol. 1, is back on the Billboard 200. The star behind the title creates history as that EP debuts inside the top tier on the list of the most-listened to albums in the United States.

On the Billboard 200, Hope on the Street Vol. 1 debuts at position No. 5. It’s the first time that J-hope has appeared inside the top 10 on the count on his own, and the title represents that achievement.

J-Hope became the first Korean solo artist to achieve multiple top 10 charts on the Billboard 200. With his second win in the region, he broke a line with five of his bandmates who had previously taken the stage.

J-Hope hit a new high position of No. 6 on the Billboard 200 back in September 2023. Thanks to significant digital sales and streaming activity, his album Jack in the Box saw its first physical release a few months after it debuted on the charts.

With three collections, J-Hope has already hit the Billboard 200. The BTS sensation has added his Hope World EP to the list in addition to Hope on the Street Vol. 1 and Jack in the Box. That set peaked at No. 38 on the roster and was an early victory for South Korean artists.

Hope on the Street Vol. 1 sold very well, reaching the Top 10, and the EP sold 44,000 copies in its first seven days of release. His 6 tracks from this project also earned him 5.7 million streams, which equates to 4,000 units. This set moved a total of 50,000 equivalent units.

J-Hope enters the top 10 of the Billboard 200, dominated by Beyoncé. The singer-songwriter launched her new album, Cowboy Carter, at No. 1 with over 400,000 equivalent units. This is her biggest chart debut of 2024 so far.
