How to Watch & Stream ‘Bottoms’ Comedy Film Online

Emma Seligman’s wild R-rated gonzo lesbian comedy Bottoms is finally available to stream on Prime Video.

The film, which premiered at the SXSW Film Festival before hitting theaters in August, stars Rachel Sennott (Bodies, Bodies) and Ayo Edebiri (The Bear) as co-eds. He plays the role of a high school student who decides to start a business. The school’s fight club (or more accurately, the self-defense club) attempts to persuade two of the school’s hottest cheerleaders to sleep together.

The satirical comedy was well-received when it made its festival debut. Variety top film critic Owen Gleiberman said the comedy “has a teasing humanity that sneaks up on you.” In addition, Gleiberman linked the film to important works of seminal queer cinema, such as Jamie Babbit’s 1999 teen satire “But I’m a Cheerleader.”

“I just miss that genre,” Seligman told Variety ahead of its theatrical release. “I miss over-the-top high school movies…I just wanted to bring it back. And part of bringing it back for me is making it queer and female driven. But to me that doesn’t change the genre, it just is our version of it.”

Seligman co-wrote the script with Sennott, who starred in Seligman’s 2020 indie hit “Shiva Baby.” The film also stars Havana Rose Liu, Kaia Gerber, Nicholas Galitzine, Dagmara Dominczyk, and Marshawn Lynch.

Edebiri has had a particularly breakout year since the film’s release, winning her first Emmy Award last month for her beloved The Bear. Sennott was honored at Variety’s “Power of Young Hollywood” event last August, and she most recently starred in Saverio Costanzo’s “Finally Dawn.”

You must have an Amazon Prime membership in order to watch “Bottoms” on Prime Video.
