The Game Awards, which celebrate the top performers in the video game business for 2023, are scheduled for this Thursday. You may watch the ceremony online for free on over 20 devices.
The 10th annual Game Awards show will begin streaming live on Thursday, December 7, at 4:30 p.m. PT/7:30 p.m. ET, from L.A.’s Peacock Theatre. The event will also feature live music performances, celebrity appearances, premiere announcements, and trailer releases in addition to the announcement of the winners in 31 categories.
The presenters include actor Christopher Judge (“God of War” and “God of War Ragnarök”), DJ and producer Zedd, actor Timothée Chalamet (from “Wonka” and “Dune”), Anthony Mackie (from Peacock’s “Twisted Metal”), and Gonzo from The Muppets.
112 distinct games, people, teams, and events from a variety of genres and platforms are nominated for 2023 Game Awards (see the complete list here). A global jury including officials from over 100 media sites and influencer sources chooses the nominees.
This year, Alan Wake 2 (Remedy Entertainment), Baldur’s Gate 3 (Larian Studios), Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 (Insomniac Games), Resident Evil 4 (Capcom), Super Mario Bros. Wonder (Nintendo), and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (Nintendo) are the six games competing for the coveted title of Game of the Year. Geoff Keighley, the host and producer of The Game Awards, told Variety last month that “this just happened to be a juggernaut of a year.” “If you look at the Game of the Year nominees, you’ll see that most of them are quite well-known, established brands with stuff like remakes and sequels. All of them are enormous franchises.
