Samsung says that its Galaxy Watch devices will include additional smart home features. Users will be able to view live feeds on their smartwatch from home, doorbell, and Ring and Nest cameras. The two-way intercom capability of the Galaxy Watch is also available to Ring camera owners. At the beginning of 2021, Samsung was the first to integrate Nest into the SmartThings ecosystem.
Smart air purifiers, thermostats, and blinds will soon be able to be controlled by wrist, as will a wider range of other devices. This extends the Galaxy Watch’s existing device support for televisions, air conditioners, lights, and other items.
Samsung claims that in order to control their smart home devices, users will not need to open the SmartThings app. To access those features, they can swipe right from the watch face. The company didn’t say when exactly the update will be available, but we might find out more at Unpacked on February 1st.
