Blue Origin Announces New Glenn Mars Mission Launch for NASA — Time, Date, How to Watch

In 2025, Blue Origin will launch its enormous New Glenn rocket from Florida on a mission to Mars, marking just its second spaceflight.

Billionaire Jeff Bezos’ spaceflight business is producing a potent two-stage heavy-lift launch vehicle called New Glenn, named for NASA astronaut John Glenn, for orbital missions. According to Blue Origin, New Glenn will be able to launch Amazon’s Project Kuiper satellites into orbit and carry out further missions for paying clients, such as telecom companies and NASA.

However, the 322-foot-tall spacecraft has only been able to take off once thus far, with its first flight taking place in January. The booster itself was lost during the descent and did not land as intended on a drone ship in the Atlantic Ocean, despite the upper stage reaching orbit in the premiere.

This time, NASA’s preferred launch service provider for the ESCAPADE mission to Mars is New Glenn.

Here’s how to watch a webcast of the massive New Glenn rocket take off from Florida on the eve of the planned launch window opening.

When will the New Glenn rocket be launched?

According to a company post on social media platform X, Blue Origin is planning to launch its New Glenn rocket from Florida on Sunday, Nov. 9.

The launch window is open from 2:45 to 5:11 p.m. ET, according to a Federal Aviation Administration operations plan alert. Blue Origin spent $1 billion rebuilding Launch Complex 36 at the Cape Canaveral Space Force Base, where the rocket would take off.

Blue Origin will try to land the first stage on a drone ship called Jacklyn several hundred miles offshore in the Atlantic once more once the upper stage enters space and separates from the booster.

A live webcast of the rocket launch will be available on Blue Origin’s website at this link, and updates will probably be posted on social media platform X.

What is ESCAPADE? What to know about NASA’s Mars mission

NASA’s twin ESCAPADE spacecraft will be propelled by New Glenn on their second-ever journey to Mars, where they will orbit the red planet and simultaneously observe space weather and solar winds.

The mission serves as a business venture as well. Additionally, Viasat, a telecommunications company, will provide technology to New Glenn that may be utilized for NASA missions in low-Earth orbit.
