Coastal Carolina baseball was the first team to secure a place in the 2025 College World Series championship series. A few hours later, LSU followed suit.
The Chanticleers, who have achieved an impressive 26 consecutive victories, will face No. 6 LSU starting June 21 in a best-of-three series to crown the national champion. On June 18, Coastal Carolina triumphed over Louisville with a score of 11-3 at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, Nebraska.
LSU found themselves trailing 5-3 as they entered the bottom of the ninth inning against Arkansas, but they rallied back, with Jared Jones hitting the game-winning walk-off to secure a 6-5 victory.
Coastal Carolina, which claimed the national championship in 2016, is now under the guidance of first-year coach Kevin Schnall. The Chanticleers stand as the only team in the nation capable of preventing the SEC from achieving a sixth consecutive national championship.
