YouTube is increasing the price of its premium package in several countries around the world. The new prices were announced over the weekend (via Android Authority). Prices are increasing in some countries in Europe, South America, Asia, and the Middle East.
The price increase has been tracked on Reddit, and so far customers in the following countries have been alerted to the price increase: Belgium, Colombia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Malaysia, Netherlands, Norway, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, and the United Arab Emirates. Norway saw the largest single price increase for the
package, with prices increasing by 42%. YouTube Premium previously cost about $11.33 per month in Norway, but now costs just over $16. In Sweden, the price of the Family plan went from $17.57 to $27.38 per month. On average, individual prices are 18 percent higher and family prices are 43 percent higher.
Many YouTube Premium customers affected by the price change said on Reddit that they wanted to cancel given the significant price increase for the Family plan.
YouTube Premium prices have not increased in the US, Canada, or other countries. In the US, the Standard plan costs $13.99 per month and the Family plan costs $22.99 per month.
