The winner goes one step closer to winning the regional title when they play Mexico or Honduras in the July 6 final at NRG Stadium in Houston.

The Gold Cup this summer provides the USMNT with its final competition before the FIFA World Cup in 2026. There are 15 MLS players on head coach Mauricio Pochettino’s roster.

United States

The USMNT needed penalty kicks to defeat Costa Rica in the quarterfinals after winning three straight games to lead Group D.

After Columbus Crew fullback Max Arfsten and Real Salt Lake midfielder Diego Luna each scored their first goals for their country in the 2-2 draw, New York City FC goalie Matt Freese made three saves from penalty kicks. After a 4-3 shootout, Damion Downs sank the winning PK to end the match.

The USMNT’s win sent them to the Gold Cup semifinals for the 17th time in 18 editions. They are attempting to win the program’s first Gold Cup since 2021 and its eighth overall.

Guatemala

Guatemala has just achieved one of the most significant results in their program’s history, securing a 1-1 comeback draw against Canada in the quarterfinals before triumphing 6-5 in the penalty shootout.

Former Real Salt Lake forward Rubio Rubín scored a second-half equalizer, negating Jonathan David’s penalty from the first half. José Morales converted the decisive penalty, while goalkeeper Kenderson Navarro shone in place of the injured Nicholas Hagen (Columbus Crew).

Los Chapines, featuring D.C. United defender Aaron Herrera and CF Montréal forward Olger Escobar, have reached their first Gold Cup semifinal since 1996. They continue to surpass expectations as the No. 106 ranked team in the FIFA World Rankings.
