Next weekend at Alex Box Stadium, the No. 6 overall seed Tigers (46-15) will host the Mountaineers (44-14) in a best-of-three series.

West Virginia defeated No. 11 overall seed Clemson 9-6 on Saturday and No. 3 Kentucky 13-12 on Sunday in the regional final at Doug Kingsmore Stadium to progress to the super regional as the No. 2 seed out of the Clemson Regional.

How LSU baseball reached to the NCAA Super Regionals

The Tigers earned a top-6 national seed after winning 20 conference games and more than 40 games overall, ranking third in the dominant Southeastern Conference. To secure a position in the super regionals, LSU had to win the Baton Rouge Regional if necessary.

To set up the winner-take-all game on Monday night, LSU defeated Little Rock 7-0 on Friday to begin regional play. They then upset No. 2 seed Dallas Baptist before falling to No. 4 seed Little Rock 10-4 on Sunday. In order to win the regional title and advance to the super regional round, the Tigers overcame the Trojans 10–6.

The Tigers were led to victory by rookie pitcher Casan Evans and junior designated hitter Ethan Frey, who went 4 for 4 with four RBIs and runs scored, and Evans, who struck out 12 batters.

How West Virginia baseball reached to the NCAA Super Regionals

The Mountaineers defeated No. 3 Kentucky 4-3 in the opening game on Friday to win the Clemson Regional as the second seed. WVU advanced to the super regional round by defeating host Clemson 9–6 and defeating Kentucky 13–12 in the rematch on Sunday.

The Big 12 regular season title went to West Virginia.
