This Doodle celebrates the opening of the 2024 Summer Olympics, where records will be broken and history will be made. For the first time in history, the City of Light will hold its ceremonies not in a stadium, but with thousands of athletes sailing down the Seine. C’est party!
The games will begin with a day of celebrations that will include a speech from the host country’s head of state. After a parade by athletes from the participating countries, the Olympic cauldron will be lit.
Over the next few weeks, top athletes from around the world will come together to compete in disciplines such as athletics, swimming, basketball and gymnastics. Many are excited about the latest events of the competition, such as breakdancing at the Place de la Concorde and surfing at Teaaupo.
