The first major renewal of 2024, a fifth season of Slow Horses, has been greenlit for Apple TV+.
The Netflix series that featured Gary Oldman and adapted Mick Herron’s novels has been a big success. It debuted with a fifth season just 18 months after the first one. In June 2022, it received a double series recommission for Seasons 3 and 4, with the third episode airing last week.
Herron’s Spook Street will serve as the inspiration for Slow Horses’ fifth installment. The glamorous new girlfriend of resident software nerd Roddy Ho (Christopher Chung) raises suspicions among everyone, but as a string of increasingly strange incidents happen throughout the city, it’s up to the Slow Horses to figure out how it’s all connected.
Along with Academy Award contender Kristin Scott Thomas and fellow nominee Jonathan Pryce, Jack Lowden, Saskia Reeves, Rosalind Eleazar, Chung, Samuel West, Sophie Okonedo, Aimee-Ffion Edwards, and Kadiff Kirwan, the ensemble cast features Oldman as the main character Jackson Lamb.
See-Saw Films produces the series for Apple TV+, and Will Smith has adapted it for the small screen. Executive producers on the show include Smith, Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Kousetta, Iain Canning, Emile Sherman, Douglas Urbanski, Gail Mutrux, Julian Stevens, and Graham Yost. Season five’s director has not yet been revealed.
