The upcoming 2024 release of the next installment in the Alien film series is planned.
As the Writer’s Guild of America (WGA) strike continues to affect production on various Disney projects, According to report, the ninth installment in the franchise will be released on August 16, 2024.
Ridley Scott will produce the next Alien film, which will be directed by Fede lvarez, who is best known for his work as the director of Don’t Breathe and 2013’s Evil Dead. Varez and his longtime collaborator Rodo Sayagues co-wrote the movie’s script.
Cailee Spaeny (Pacific Rim Uprising), Isabela Merced, David Jonsson (Industry), Archie Renaux (Shadow And Bone), Spike Fearn, and Aileen Wu are among the confirmed cast members.
The untitled installment, which will be the seventh mainline entry in the franchise as a whole, has been described as a standalone entry. The most recent film was Alien: Covenant, directed by Scott, was a follow-up to Prometheus, which came out in 2012.
Noah Hawley, the creator of Fargo, is working on an Alien television series at FX. The show was first announced in December 2020. After production on the fifth season of Fargo has finished, filming on the show is expected to begin this year, as reported by Deadline.
Hawley stated about the series in 2021 that it would be set on Earth and would not be connected to the story of Ripley (Sigourney Weaver).
“It’s not a Ripley story,” Hawley said. “She’s one of the great characters of all time, and I think the story has been told pretty perfectly, and I don’t want to mess with it.”
