With eight teams competing for a spot in the Division Series, Major League Baseball’s best-of-three wild card series is set to start nationwide on Tuesday.
In 2022, each league adopted a new postseason format that included three wild cards, while the top two division champions were exempt from the LDS. Tuesday and Wednesday are scheduled for quadrupleheaders, and if needed, additional games could be added for Thursday.
An American League game kicks off the wild card schedule at 1:08 p.m. ET on Tuesday, with the defending World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers hosting the late games.
Saturday, October 4, marks the start of the Division Series, which is a best-of-five contest.
