36 teams will compete in eight games, four at home and four away, as part of the UEFA Champions League league phase, which has returned.
Eight teams will advance straight to the Round of 16 based on the league phase standings, while eight more will advance through playoff matches that place teams 9–24 in home and away legs.
Additionally, the initial version of the tournament’s new format taught us that there is no set path to greatness.
Second place As the fourth seed in the previous league phase, Inter Milan was granted a bye; however, champions Paris Saint-Germain finished in 15th place and were not guaranteed a spot in the playoffs until Matchday 7.
