For the season’s last Grand Slam, the best tennis players traveled from all around the world to the Big Apple this week.
With Round 1 starting on Sunday at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, here is everything fans need to know about the 2025 U.S. Open so they can take in all the action.
2025 U.S. Open Draw is set
The final tennis championship of the year’s brackets were revealed on Thursday, with defending champion and World No. 1 Jannik Sinner at the top of the seeding and Venus Williams, the adored two-time champion, receiving a wild-card admission.
American tennis star Ben Shelton will start the first round of action in Arthur Ashe on Sunday against an opponent to be determined in the qualifying round. On the evening, four-time U.S. Open champion Novak Djokovic will face Learner Tien, a 19-year-old American.
In the afternoon session, Aryna Sabalenka, the reigning champion, will face Rebeka Masarova on Ashe. The 2024 U.S. Open runner-up Jessica Pegula will follow in the evening session to face Mayar Sherif at the same stadium.
Below are the seeds and pairings that U.S. Open officials have revealed.
The men’s singles draw
Sinner leads the top with previous Grand Slam finalists Stefanos Tsitsipas and Alexander Zverev, while former U.S. Open winners Djokovic, Daniil Medvedev, and Carlos Alcaraz finished in the bottom half of Thursday’s men’s singles bracket. Taylor Fritz, the U.S. Open finalist the previous year and the American favorite, landed in the second half.
Along with Fritz, Shelton, Tommy Paul, and Frances Tiafoe are three other American men in the Top 20 who are vying for their first major championship at Arthur Ashe.
U.S. Open women’s singles draw
Pegula (No. 4) and Emma Navarro (No. 10) were ranked in the top half of the defending U.S. Open champion Sabalenka’s seeding, while three American women in the Top 10 seeds—Coco Gauff (No. 3), Madison Keys (No. 6), and Amanda Anisimova (No. 8)—make up this year’s bottom half.
The complete tournament schedule for the 2025 U.S. Open Tennis
The renowned USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center at Flushing Meadows in Queens, New York, hosted qualifying matches, the mixed doubles competition, and women’s and men’s singles practice rounds on all 22 courts on Monday, August 18, to kick off fan week.
Men’s and women’s doubles play through Saturday, August 30, while the singles matches begin on Sunday, August 24, and continue through the third round.
In addition to more doubles play and the first round of the junior singles competition for both boys and girls, Week 3 brings the Round of 16 on Sunday, August 31.
The women’s and men’s semifinals are scheduled for September 4 and 5, respectively, after the singles quarterfinals start on September 2.
On Saturday, September 6, the women’s final will be held. On Sunday afternoon, September 7, the men’s final will follow.
Fan Week for the U.S. Open
Through Saturday, August 23, fans can enjoy access to sponsor booths for games and fun, as well as podcast recordings, DJ performances, player Q&A sessions, special appearances, and more as they swarm the storied grounds of the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.
2025 U.S. Open Mixed Doubles
The new-look event, sponsored by Vital Proteins, saw defending champions Sara Errani and Andrea Vavassori successfully win the title on Wednesday night.
The U.S. Open Mixed Doubles Championship, which had a full 16-team field and draw, included notable partnerships such as Madison Keys and Frances Tiafoe, Emma Raducanu and Carlos Alcaraz, and Jessica Pegula and Jack Draper.
The championship match would usually take place on the last weekend of the competition, and mixed doubles usually ran alongside the main event. This year, the action was transferred from the outer courts to Arthur Ashe and Louis Armstrong Stadium Courts, which are the biggest stadium courts.

What is the U.S. Open purse for 2025?
$5 million will be awarded to the 2025 U.S. Open men’s and women’s singles champions.
Semifinalists will receive $1.26 million, quarterfinalists will receive $660,000, and finalists will receive $2.5 million.
The finalists will receive $500,000, and the doubles champions will receive $1 million. Quarterfinalists will receive $125,000, and doubles semifinalists will receive $250,000.

Sinner defeated American favorite Fritz in 2024 to become the defending U.S. Open men’s singles champion and recently won his maiden Wimbledon Championship.
