Samsung Brings Back Rotating Bezel in Galaxy Watch 8 Classic

The Galaxy Watch 8 Classic, which is expected to feature Samsung’s recognizable rotating bezel, is expected to return later this year, according to the company’s back-and-forth Galaxy Watch release schedule.

The concept of a rotating bezel to operate the software was previously the foundation of the Galaxy Watch series, but the company began to abandon it with the release of the Galaxy Watch 4 series in 2021. The Galaxy Watch 6 brought it back after the Watch 5 completely eliminated it the following year.

That cycle makes sense because it allows Samsung to reach a new audience, but the debut of the rotating bezel last year raised concerns about its future. There was some uncertainty about the lineup’s future when the Galaxy Watch Ultra was introduced, breaking from the company’s customary naming scheme. Fortunately, recent research indicates that Samsung is bringing back the “Classic.”

A Samsung listing for the SM-L505U, which is referred to as the “Galaxy Watch 8 Classic” in the listing, was discovered by Xpertpick at the Bluetooth SIG. Late last year, the identical model number first surfaced without a specific designation.

However, it’s yet unknown what this new smartwatch will offer. The rotating bezel has earned the nickname “Classic,” although it’s unclear if this feature will endure given that the Galaxy Watch Ultra has a similar physical bezel design but without the rotation.

This gadget is probably going to make its debut at Samsung’s July launch event.
