Google doodle celebrates Oman’s National Day

The Doodle for today celebrates the National Day of Oman!

Students sing the national anthem, Salâm as-Solṭâni, or النشيد الوطني العماني, to begin the festivities on National Day. Parades, cultural performances, horse races, camel races, and other exciting events are held for everyone to enjoy. The Omani national flag, like the one in today’s artwork, and bright green, red, and white lights adorn city streets and buildings.

Traditional dinners like harees dijaj (slow-cooked chicken and barley), machboos (one-pot rice and meat dish), and others are shared by families and friends. Several provinces around the nation light up the night sky with boisterous fireworks displays to cap off the festivities.
