Hoda Kotb Announces She’s Stepping Down as Co-Anchor of NBC’s ‘TODAY’ Show

Hoda Kotb announced Thursday that she would step down as co-host of NBC News’ flagship morning show, “TODAY,” after six years on the job.

Kotb said she made the decision after turning 60 in August. “I realized it was time for me to turn the page at 60 and try something new,” she said, fighting back tears.

Guthrie was visibly moved and said the “TODAY” team “didn’t want to imagine this place without you.” Guthrie praised Kotb’s “guts” and said she is loved by all her colleagues.

Kotb has co-hosted “TODAY” with Savannah Guthrie since early 2018. They became the show’s first all-female presenting team.

Kotubb joined NBC News in 1998 as a correspondent for “Dateline.” She covered a wide range of domestic and international news before joining the TODAY team in 2007, co-anchoring the show’s fourth hour with Kathie Lee Gifford.
