World Rugby SVNS 2024/25 Championship in LA: Everything You Need to Know

World Rugby SVNS 2025 Los Angeles

Dignity Health Sports Park, which will stage rugby sevens in the Olympic Games LA 2028, will hold the grand finale of the 2024–25 World Rugby SVNS Series this weekend (3–4) in Los Angeles.

Two pools of four teams each make up the competition format, and the top two teams from each pool advance to the semi-finals.

In the previous round in Singapore, the women’s team from New Zealand and the men’s team from Argentina won the regular-season League Winners championships.

Australia and New Zealand, fierce rivals who faced off in four of the six finals this season and won two apiece, will probably compete in the women’s event.

The sport’s all-time best try scorer, Michaela Brake, and Singapore Player of the Final, Risi Pouri-Lane, will be the mainstays of the Black Ferns’ powerful attack as they attempt to win four straight games.

Maddison Levi will be the danger lady for the Australians once more. Last time out, the flying wing scored her 51st try of the season in the final, making her the fastest player to reach 200 tries in 26 events.

Brazil, People’s Republic of China, Ireland, and Spain, who placed ninth through twelfth, will face the top four Challenger Series teams—South Africa, Kenya, Colombia, and Argentina—in the playoffs to decide who will compete in the 2025–26 HSBC SVNS Series.

Argentina has won three events this season and is the favorite on the men’s side in Los Angeles.

Despite having past Player of the Year Marcos Moneta and attacking prowess Luciano Gonzalez, Los Pumas will need to perform at their peak in an unexpected season.

Singapore finals Kenya, with their hero Patrick Odongo Okong’o, proved they could defeat most on their day, even if they finished ninth overall. Fiji, the Singapore winners and two-time Olympic champions, and Spain have also consistently performed well.

Along with Kenya, Uruguay, Ireland, and the USA will compete against Challenger Series teams Canada, Germany, Samoa, and Portugal for a spot in the competition the following season.
