Who’s No. 1? NCAA Women’s Lacrosse Committee Releases Latest Rankings

NCAA DI Women’s Lacrosse Top 10 Teams 2025

The NCAA Division I Women’s Lacrosse Committee has announced its top 10 teams with less than three weeks till selections.

As the only team in Division I still undefeated North Carolina (14-0) secured the top seed based on their performance in games played on April 16. At 11.50 points per game, the Tar Heels have the largest winning margin in the country.

Boston College, the reigning national champion, is presently leading Division I in goals per game (18.27) and assists per game (10.20), and they are ranked second.

Northwestern completes the top three (12-2). Because they receive a bye into the second round on May 11, the top three seeds are very important.

Johns Hopkins (11-4), Virginia (11-5) and Florida (13-2) are the next three teams. Both Johns Hopkins and Florida are vying for their programs’ first national women’s lacrosse championship, while Virginia is aiming for its first since 2004.

Stanford (12-4) and Princeton (11-2), Yale (10-3) and Syracuse (9-6) complete the top ten.

Won-lost record, schedule strength, eligibility and availability of student-athletes for NCAA championships, head-to-head competition, results against common opponents, significant wins and losses, and evaluation of the 10 highest-rated teams on an institution’s schedule—defined by two components: schedule strength and winning percentage—are all included in the ranking, which is based on the criteria used to choose and seed the 29 teams for the Division I women’s lacrosse championship.

On Sunday, May 4 at 9 p.m. ET, ESPNU will announce the 2025 championship field, which will include 14 at-large choices and 15 automatic conference qualifiers.

Teams compete to earn a trip to the NCAA Division I Women’s Lacrosse Championship on May 23 and 25 at Gilette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts. The tournament begins on campus sites on Friday, May 9 and continues until the quarterfinals.
