It’s nearly time to head to Omaha and the College World Series.
In the NCAA baseball tournament, which started with 64 teams after the bracket was unveiled on Memorial Day, 14 teams are now vying for the golden ticket to college baseball’s most revered venue, Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, Nebraska. The tournament will soon be reduced to the final eight.
In a super regional sweep of No. 4 Auburn out on The Plains, No. 13 Coastal Carolina became the first team to punch their ticket to the CWS. Since 1999, the Chanticleers have had the longest winning run going into the CWS, with 23 games in a row.
Depending on whether certain super regional matchups require the “if necessary” Game 3 to be played, super regional action began on June 6 and will continue through June 9 at eight different locations around the country.
