How the Championship Works-

To choose the 30 qualifying teams and six players (who are not on those qualifying teams) who will compete in the finals, six 54-hole regional competitions will be played. Each of the three regional tournaments will have 13 teams and 10 individuals who are not on those teams, while the remaining three regional tournaments will feature 14 teams and five persons who are not on those teams. The finals will be played between the bottom five teams and the lowest-ranked person who is not on those teams.

Six players and all 30 teams will play 54 holes of stroke play. The top eight teams for match-play competition and the 72-hole stroke-play individual champion will be determined by the top 15 teams and the top nine players who are not on an advancing team after 54 holes of competition. Following 72 holes of play, the top eight teams advance to a bracket.

Five points will be available in the team match-play competition, with one point given for each individual match. The teams that win move on to the semifinals and then the championship game. The team that advances or, in the case of the final match, is crowned the national champion is the first to win three points in the team match.

History of Championships-

In 2024, Auburn defeated Florida State 3-2 in the championship match to win its first-ever NCAA DI men’s golf title. The Tigers were participating in the finals for the first time. View the complete history of the championship below:
