Who Will Be the Chief Guest for Republic Day 2025? Here’s the Full List

Every year on January 26th, India celebrates Republic Day to celebrate the country’s establishment as a republic in 1950. This year, in 2025, we will mark the 75th Republic Day. On this day, you can look at the chief guest for Republic Day 2025. It is a day of national pride, and people celebrate with parades, flag-raising, and cultural events. The largest event occurs in New Delhi, where the military and several states show their power and traditions. This day celebrates the leaders and freedom fighters who helped India gain independence and establish a republic.

Republic Day is celebrated to commemorate the enactment of the Constitution of India on 26 January 1950, replacing the Government of India Act that forced this day on our country.

India gained independence on 15 August 1947, but until then it did not have its own constitution. These laws were mainly based on the Government of India Act of 1935. Later, on 29 August 1947, a resolution was passed to appoint a drafting committee headed by Dr. B. R. Ambedkar as chairman to draft an independent constitution for our country.

It took about two years and 11 months to put together the guidelines for the Indian Constitution. Finally, the Indian Constitution came into force on 26 January 1950. 26 January was chosen as this date because on Purna Swaraj Day in 1930, the Indian National Congress declared India’s independence. Hence, in India, we celebrate Independence Day to mark India’s liberation from British rule and Republic Day to mark the adoption of the Indian Constitution.
