What Are The Reactions Of Critics To “Chad Powers”?

Based on 18 reviews, Rotten Tomatoes critics have given Chad Powers a 56% “rotten” rating as of the writing of this article. Still pending are the Popcornmeter score based on verified user ratings, the audience summary, and the RT Critics Consensus.
Daniel Fienberg is one of the leading critics on RT who rates Chad Powers as “rotten.” He writes in his review summary, “For five-plus episodes, despite occasional chuckles, I felt like the show wasn’t working at all. At the end of the sixth, I was open to the possibility that Chad Powers is trying to be an odd and self-referential show… I’m really not sure.”
  • “The creators of Ted Lasso knew that if you’re going to build a show on a wisp of a concept, you better make sure the world and the characters in it are fully developed,” writes Kristen Baldwin of Entertainment Weekly in her “rotten” review summary on RT, further criticizing Chad Powers. Unfortunately, everything in Chad Powers seems a bit shoddy. In her “rotten” review summary on RT, Rebecca Nicholson of the Financial Times expresses further distaste for Chad Powers, writing, “If Ted Lasso built its reputation on a kind of gee-whizz homeliness, then Chad Powers opts for the polar opposite.” Any lighter moments are made difficult by the [humor’s] misanthropic streak and coarse, mean-spirited tone.
  • The only notable reviewer on RT to give Chad Powers a “fresh” review is William Goodman of The Wrap, who writes, “Due to the talent involved, it transcends its source material and becomes something much more special as a result.” “Chad Powers pulls too much, too obviously from Eastbound & Down, Ted Lasso, and a bunch of other movies and shows to fully feel like its own thing, but it’s a consistently funny, occasionally surprising comedy,” writes Liam Mathews of TV Guide, one of the other RT critics who agrees with Goodman.
  • Episodes 1 and 2 of Chad Powers are currently accessible on Hulu.
