When Will Ari Aster’s ‘Eddington’ Be Available to Watch?

Eddington debuted in theaters on Friday with a R rating. “In May of 2020, a standoff between a small-town sheriff (Phoenix) and mayor (Pascal) ignites a powder keg as neighbor is pitted against neighbor in Eddington, New Mexico,” is the logline for Eddington.

In addition to Luke Grimes, Deidre O’Connell, Michael Ward, Austin Butler, and Emma Stone, Eddington was written and directed by Aster.

Check your local listings for showtimes as Eddington is currently only available to watch in theaters.

Digital streaming through premium video on demand will be Eddington’s first foray into the home entertainment market. Since Eddington is an A24 release, there is usually a one-month gap between when the independent studio distributes a movie in theaters and when it becomes available on PVOD.

For instance, Death of a Unicorn, an A24 horror comedy starring Jenna Ortega and Paul Rudd, made its PVOD debut on April 29 after opening in theaters on March 28. More recently, on July 1, the A24 horror movie Bring Her Back made its debut on PVOD after being released in theaters on May 30.

If Eddington follows the same release schedule, audiences should anticipate being able to buy or rent the movie on PVOD somewhere around August 19, as Tuesdays are when new movies are published on digital streaming.

“Eddington” Will Arrive First on Which Streaming Service?

A24 and Warner Bros. Discovery have a deal that allows all A24 films to be streamed on demand on HBO Max, which was previously known as Max.

Typically, A24’s films don’t make their way to HBO Max until four months post their theatrical release. For instance, A24’s horror thriller Heretic was available on Max on March 7, which is just shy of four months after its theater debut on Nov. 8, 2024.

In addition, A24’s popular erotic thriller Babygirl premiered on HBO Max on April 25, precisely four months after it hit theaters on Dec. 25, 2024.

Should Eddington follows to the same release schedule as the aforementioned films, viewers can anticipate the movie to be available on HBO Max on either Nov. 14 or 21, as new titles are released on the streaming platform on Fridays.
