McDonald’s wants to bring back memories of doilies, warm hugs, and candy with a new dessert treat.
The new Grandma McFlurry went on sale at McDonald’s stores nationwide on Tuesday.
The fast food chain said the new flavor was inspired by memories from Grandma’s life. The McFlurry is sweet (like her grandma’s) and contains candy (just like she kept in her purse).
The dessert is based on vanilla soft serve ice cream and is garnished with butterscotch syrup and butterscotch candy sprinkles.
“Grandmas have always held a special place in our hearts, and today they’re having a major moment influencing culture – inspiring trends in fashion, decor and now, even food with our newest McFlurry,” said Tariq Hassan, chief marketing and customer experience officer at McDonald’s. “The Grandma McFlurry tastes like a trip down memory lane, and we’re excited to give our fans that experience while honoring the grandma-figure in all our lives.”
Participating McDonald’s restaurants will sell the Grandma McFlurry for a short period of time, while supplies last.
McDonald collaborated with singer-songwriter Remi Wolf and Latin Grammy nominee Jay Wheeler on covers of their songs “How Sweet It Is” and “Piel Canela.”
