This Doodle celebrates the first game and start of the 2025 UEFA Women’s EURO Cup football competition, which will be held in Switzerland.
The main competition for national teams in the UEFA confederation is this quadrennial tournament, which was first played in 1984. Maddli, a lively Saint Bernard puppy named after Madeleine Boll, the first female recognized football player in Switzerland, is this year’s tournament mascot.
To compete for the trophy, sixteen countries from across Europe will gather in arenas ranging from Geneva to Zurich. Who will win the gold by reaching the top of the bracket? To all the teams, good luck!
Tournament Format
The competition features 16 national teams in four groups:
- Group A: Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, Finland
- Group B: Spain, Portugal, Belgium, Italy
- Group C: Germany, Poland, Denmark, Sweden
- Group D: France, England, Wales, Netherlands
Group stages run from July 2–13. The quarter-finals take place July 16–19, semi-finals on July 22–23, and the grand final returns to Basel on July 27.
