The next “Mission: Impossible” film starring Tom Cruise will not be released until 2025

In 2024, Tom Cruise’s next Mission: Impossible film will no longer be in theatres. Dead Reckoning, Part Two, the second part of the title for the eighth entry in the action spy series, appears to be being replaced by a new title that will likely be revealed later.

The movie was originally scheduled to release on June 28, 2024, but Paramount and Skydance have pushed it back to May 23, 2025. To allow star Cruise and the cast to promote Dead Reckoning, Part 1, the film’s production was delayed. Subsequently, in the middle of July, the SAG-AFTRA strike occurred, preventing the actors from going back to work on Christopher McQuarrie’s image.

If the strike isn’t ended in the next several weeks, more tentpoles will probably leave next year.

M:I 8 comes after Dead Reckoning, Part 1, which debuted in July and brought in $567.5 million worldwide. Part 1 had a rough go at the box office.

Cruise plays IMF agent Ethan Hunt in the film; other expected reunions include Hayley Atwell, Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, and Vanessa Kirby. The original 1996 movie, which was based on the 1960s TV series, launched the Mission franchise. It is well-known for being filmed in many parts of the world and for having at least one iconic Cruise scene that frequently serves as the focal point of the company’s marketing campaign.

Imax cameras are being used for the eighth Mission, which will spend a full three weeks in Imax theatres. This comes after Oppenheimer caused M:I 7 to rapidly lose its Imax displays.

Paramount also faced a slew of adjustments. A Quiet Place: Day One was rescheduled from March 8, 2024 to June 28, 2024, the old date of Dead Reckoning. The picture, which also stars Lupita Nyong’o, is set in the same rural environment as John Krasinksi’s A Quiet Place series. This time, viewers get to witness the alien invasion right in the middle of New York City.

The Ryan Reynolds and Krasinski film If was also moved forward by one week, to May 17, 2024, by Paramount. Untitled Spongebob Squarepants movie shifted its release date from May 23, 2025, to December 19, 2025.
