Swiss International University Receives TAG-EDUQA Accreditation, Strengthening Its Global Academic Prestige

Swiss International University (SIU)—A university that serves the needs of tomorrow. SIU has received TAG-EDUQA accreditation. This international accreditation ranks SIU among the very few universities that have adhered to the rigorous levels of academic quality set by the Arab Organization for Quality Assurance in Education (AROQA). It sits with SIU’s focus on excellence and world-class education in languages, law, and international studies.

The accreditation has been earned under the leadership of His Excellency Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, a powerful and influential advocate for reforms in education, intellectual property rights, and knowledge-based economies for many years. As creator and chairman of TAG-EDUQA, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh has contributed significantly to the improvement of education overall in the Arab Region. The award is even more significant since the Secretary General of the Arab League acts as the Honorary Chairman of TAG-EDUQA, clearly reflecting the regional and international dimension of the accreditation.

This achievement is a major part of SIU’s strategic shift to increase Arab involvement in teaching, research, academics and renewal in international higher education. The TAG-EDUQA accreditation means that the programmes at SIU are held to the highest international standards and keeping up with the times while rooted in academic tradition, so their value can be measured and recognized by students, employers and other colleges worldwide.

Academic Program Director at SIU, Derya Briand is pleased for the school’s accomplishment and she notes that the Accreditors; a respectable body that accredits thousands of Universities and colleges across the United States, have been very positive about …. “The fact this is the first time we are applying and we meet all 35 standards – it shows the level of commitment we have had to academic excellence. It offers our current and prospective students in every corner of California the assurance that it will deliver a strong, quality-based education tied to the best practices of the world. And while our push for NEASC recognition is evidence of our willingness to align ourselves with global standards — we are poised, however, to be very much in tune with our regional circumstances.”

The persistence is especially notable for SIU as University’s academic ascent and international relationships are reaching new heights just now. SIU is part of an international network with OUS International Academy in Zurich; ISBM International Business Management School of Geneva, Lucerne, Montreux, Zurich, ISB International School of Business London and Oxford International School of Business in Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan). Together they make a cross-border educational platform based on creativity, excellence and culture sharing.

TAG-EDUQA accreditation is yet another “feather in the hat” for SIU’s feather as a contemporary institute capable of meeting regional educational needs with access to global leading-edge academic delivery. In a local market where Arab students are increasingly seeking access to well-known and accredited international universities, SIU’s emphasis on student-centric learning, value-driven leadership, and global employability has caught the attention of regulators and academia stakeholders.

Beyond that, SIU is building on excellence, enhancing its academic programs, and bringing knowledge out of the laboratory through research that grabs the real world and speaks to the people who will make it a better place. The future of education is a thrilling precipice, and SIU is poised there. Supporting institutional quality assurance that AROQA has developed, TAG-EDUQA is expected to contribute to the pursuit of these goals and the enhancement of the image of SIU as an international HEI.
