St. Patrick’s Day : Google doodle celebrates the greenest day of the year and Irish culture

It’s St. Patrick’s Day, so keep an eye out for some shamrocks! The Irish culture and the greenest day of the year are honored in today’s Doodle. Ireland made St. Patrick’s Day a national holiday on this day in 1903.

Millions of people around the world go to parades and pubs every year to spend the day with loved ones and celebrate. Ireland’s national day is celebrated by friends and family at ceilidhs and local parades held throughout the country. Irish Americans gather to march with floats in the renowned New York City St. Patrick’s Day Parade in the United States. The North Lawn fountain is even completely dipped in green by the White House!

The artwork in today’s Doodle was created by hand using cut acrylic glass to resemble a typical stained glass window. The design features a harp and shamrocks, two symbols of Ireland!

Wear a lot of green, look for leprechauns, and look for shamrocks wherever you may be. Happy Irish New Year!
