Scheffler Wins 2025 PGA Championship, Securing Third Major Title

Scottie Scheffler PGA Championship victory 2025

Scottie Scheffler put in more effort than he anticipated and achieved the outcome everyone expected on Sunday at the PGA Championship: A delightful stroll to the 18th green with yet another major title secured in the hands of golf’s top player.

Scheffler was flowless when it mattered most on the back nine of Quail Hollow, leaving the mistakes to Jon Rahm and the others attempting to catch him on a final day that became tense until Scheffler distanced himself with a consistent approach of hitting fairways and greens.

He finished with a bogey that he could afford for an even-par 71, resulting in a five-shot victory and his third major title. Scheffler made history as the first player since Seve Ballesteros to win his first three majors by three shots or more.

Was it boring? Not at all. That was evident when Scheffler raised his arms on the 18th green and then emphatically slammed his cap onto the ground.

Scheffler had a five-shot lead as he approached the final hole when he claimed his first Masters green jacket in 2022. He was four shots ahead of the competition when he triumphed at Augusta National last year. And he held a six-shot advantage at Quail Hollow.

However, this certainly didn’t feel like an easy victory.

He had a five-shot lead as he stood on the sixth tee. But after a shaky swing that resulted in two bogeys, and with Rahm sinking three birdies in a four-hole stretch around the turn — they were tied when Scheffler arrived at the 10th tee.

It appeared to be a showdown to the end, with Bryson DeChambeau doing everything he could to join the fray, until Scheffler showcased why he is the best in golf. He didn’t miss a shot off the tee or from the fairway until he regained a four-shot lead.

PGA Tour Champions

Angel Cabrera and Jerry Kelly were tied for the lead at 18 under during the final round of the Regions Tradition when play was halted for the day due to darkness.

Cabrera had three holes remaining while Kelly had four to play at Greystone in this major PGA Tour Champions event. Cabrera finished with a bogey on the par-5 15th, bringing his score down to 6 under for the day. They will continue play on Monday.

Y.E. Yang was just one stroke behind with four holes left to play.

Cabrera claimed victory at the James Hardie Pro Football Hall of Fame Invitational last month, marking his first senior title, 20 months after being released from an Argentine prison where he served two years for gender violence.

A former Masters and U.S. Open champion, Cabrera was incarcerated for making threats and harassing two of his former girlfriends. He was granted parole in August 2023 and was allowed to return to the PGA Tour Champions later that same year.

Korn Ferry Tour

S.H. Kim secured his first Korn Ferry Tour title by winning the AdventHealth Championship, finishing with a 1-under 71 in windy conditions for a three-stroke victory.

Kim ended the tournament at 20-under 268 at Blue Hills Country Club. The 26-year-old South Korean golfer achieved this win in his 30th tour start and currently leads the season points standings.

Blaine Hale Jr. finished in second place after shooting a 63. Ben Taylor (68), Alvaro Ortiz (70), and Carter Jenkins (69) all tied for third at 16 under.
