PM-KISAN Yojana: When Will PM Modi Release the 19th Installment of ₹2,000?

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to release the 19th installment of the PM-KISAN scheme on February 24, 2025, providing ₹2,000 each to 9.8 crore farmers across India. The total financial assistance being disbursed under this installment amounts to ₹22,000 crore, which will be directly credited to the bank accounts of eligible beneficiaries.

The PM-KISAN Yojana, launched in February 2019, aims to provide financial support to small and marginal farmers by transferring ₹6,000 annually in three equal installments of ₹2,000 every four months.

PM-KISAN 19th Installment Release Details

Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, while addressing a press conference, confirmed that the 19th installment will be released at a special event in Bhagalpur, Bihar. The event is expected to witness the participation of around 2.5 crore farmers both physically and virtually.

According to Chouhan, the number of beneficiaries has increased from 9.6 crore in the previous installment to 9.8 crore this time. So far, the government has disbursed a total of ₹3.46 lakh crore under PM-KISAN, which will rise to ₹3.68 lakh crore after this installment.

Significance of PM-KISAN Scheme

PM-KISAN is recognized as the world’s largest Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) scheme aimed at improving farmers’ income and ensuring they have financial support for essential agricultural expenses, including seeds, fertilizers, and other inputs.

Chouhan reiterated the government’s commitment to empowering farmers by increasing productivity, reducing input costs, and promoting natural farming practices.

Additional Announcements & Upcoming Projects

During his visit to Bihar, PM Modi will also inaugurate key projects, including:

  • A dairy processing unit at Barauni under the Gokul Mission
  • A Centre of Excellence for Dairy Development
  • Several railway projects to enhance connectivity in Bihar

Additionally, Shivraj Singh Chouhan will meet Makhana farmers in Darbhanga on February 23 to discuss their challenges and the upcoming establishment of the Makhana Board, which was proposed in the Union Budget 2025.

PM-KISAN Release and Bihar Elections: A Political Debate?

When questioned about the timing of the release in Bihar, Chouhan clarified that the PM-KISAN installments are regularly released from different states and should not be linked to the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections.

He also took a dig at the opposition, stating that previous governments never provided direct financial assistance to farmers despite making promises about their welfare.

Conclusion

The 19th installment of PM-KISAN comes as a major relief for farmers across India, ensuring timely financial support ahead of the upcoming harvest season. With ₹22,000 crore being transferred directly, the scheme continues to strengthen the rural economy and provide much-needed stability to the farming community.
