PGA Championship Predictions 2025: Who Will Win the Wanamaker Trophy?

PGA Championship 2025 Quail Hollow predictions

The 2025 PGA Championship is returning to a familiar location, and golf’s second major of the year is quickly approaching. For over ten years, the PGA Tour has made frequent stops at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina, which also hosted Justin Thomas’s victory at the 2017 PGA Championship. There, the greatest in the world will come back this week to compete for the Wanamaker Trophy.

According to oddsmakers, world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler and masters champion Rory McIlroy are the overwhelming favorites going into the tournament. Bryson DeChambeau, a star of LIV Golf, is also seen to be ahead of the field of competitors. However, there are plenty of players who can win, as well as some unlikely choices that are worth taking into account.

In addition to the early favorites to win the tournament, here is a breakdown of the odds for the 2025 PGA Championship that could surprise you:

Predictions for the 2025 PGA Championship

BetMGM: Bryson DeChambeau

“Including a near miss at Augusta National this past weekend, DeChambeau has now recorded four top-10s in his last five major championships. Over his last nine major championships, DeChambeau owns five top-10s and four top-5s. One such success came last year at Valhalla, the most correlative course to Quail Hollow, per datagolf.com.”

Gambling Nerd: Scottie Scheffler

“Despite never winning the event, Scheffler has finished in the top 10 in four of his five PGA Championship appearances … Scheffler will solidify his standing at the top of the world rankings with a win at Quail Hollow Club this year.”

Newsweek: Rory McIlroy

“Scheffler may lead the odds to win, but McIlroy’s track record at Quail Hollow can’t be overlooked. The Northern Irishman has won four of his 12 appearances in the Wells Fargo Championship (now the Truist Championship) there, to go with five other top 10s. Add to that the level of play he has displayed this season (three wins, one major).”

PGA Championship 2025: Sleeper picks based on odds

CBS Sports: Tyrrell Hatton (+4500)

“Hatton missed the cut at the 2017 PGA Championship but he’s since experienced success at Quail Hollow, finishing T-3rd at the 2023 Wells Fargo Championship there. The 33-year-old Englishman was T-14th at the Masters last month and also scored a win at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic in January on the DP World Tour. He’s been top 25 in eight of his nine starts around the world this season and he ranks second on his tour this season by hitting 73.81% of greens in regulation.”

Sports Betting Dime: Shane Lowry (+4500)

“He’s coming off a hard luck runner-up at the Truist Championship, where the putter didn’t cooperate on Sunday. He’s on a ridiculous run of 16 of 19 worldwide starts inside the top-20. The Irishman has also put together five top-12s in the last seven attempts at the PGA, three of which were top-8s. You can be pretty confident that after placing this bet, he’ll be in contention. You have to take the good with the bad, knowing the putter might be the sore spot. Should he even putt decently well, he’ll be tough to beat.”

talkSPORT: Jordan Spieth (+5500)

“Spieth won the Masters, US Open and Open Championship in quick succession but has now gone eight years without a major win. He was runner-up at the 2015 PGA Championship and tied for third four years later. But since then, he has struggled to make an impact at the event as the Grand Slam has eluded him. He was brilliant at the (CJ Cup) Byron Nelson recently and has shown good form all season, so maybe this could be his year.”
