Olympic men’s hockey medal games

Though the conclusion appeared to be in doubt on Friday night when Finland led 2-0 over Canada in the semifinals, the Milan Cortina 2026 Olympic men’s hockey gold medal game is already fixed.

Canada clawed from behind to win 3-2, with Nathan MacKinnon scoring the game-winner with 35.2 seconds remaining in the third.

Slovakia and Finland will now compete for bronze on Saturday evening in Milan (afternoon in the United States).

The The United States will face Canada for Olympic gold in Milan on Sunday afternoon (morning in the United States).

Here’s everything you need to know to watch the Olympic men’s hockey medal games and see if Team USA can replicate the women’s gold medal victory over Canada.

Bronze Medal Game: Finland vs. Slovakia

  • Location: Milano Santagiulia Ice Hockey Arena
  • TV: USA Network (2:40 p.m. ET)
  • Live Stream: Peacock (2:40 p.m. ET)

Finland and Slovakia will reprise their prior Group B preliminary stage match in Milan Cortina 2026, this time with bronze on the stake.

Slovakia, which upset Finland 4-1 in their first meeting, has quietly become one of the best hockey tales of the Games.

The two nations also faced in the semifinals in Beijing 2022, with Finland defeating ROC to win gold and Slovakia defeating Sweden to capture bronze. But this was in a game with no NHL players. Slovakia has only seven NHL players on its roster, but it received a first-round bye in the playoffs before defeating Germany.

As previously said, the Finns were on the verge of defeating Canada. This will be an evenly matched tilt.

Gold Medal Game: Canada vs. United States

  • Location: Milano Santagiulia Ice Hockey Arena
  • TV: NBC (8:10 a.m. ET)
  • Live Stream: Peacock (8:10 a.m. ET)

The United States and Canada compete for Olympic gold for the third time on Sunday. The previous two matches took place in Salt Lake City in 2002 and Vancouver in 2010.

However, the Americans have never defeated Canada in an Olympic gold medal match, losing both times.

The previous meeting between the two countries, a 3-2 overtime victory in the final of the NHL’s 4 Nations Face-Off last February — set against a politically charged backdrop as President Trump openly mused about annexing Canada and making it “the 51st state” — drew more than 16 million viewers in Canada and the United States.

The United States enters the contest at full strength. Quinn Hughes leads the team in scoring, with one goal and six assists. Four players (Captain Auston Matthews, Tage Thompson, Brady Tkachuk, and Jack Hughes) led the scoring with three goals each.

Connor McDavid leads Team Canada in points with 13, while Olympic rookie Macklin Celebrini has the most goals (5).

McDavid led Team Canada to victory over Finland after Sidney Crosby was ruled out due to a lower-body ailment. However, coach Jon Cooper did not rule out Crosby, who scored the iconic “Golden Goal” in 2010, returning to the gold medal game.
