Netflix has officially canceled the espionage dramedy The Recruit after just two seasons, According to reports.
The news was announced on Threads by Colton Dunn, who played former CIA agent Lester Kitchens, who portrayed former. “The Recruit has been canceled, y’all. Such a bummer. I’ll share some pics and fun memories on IG, but just wanted you to hear it from me. Thanks if you watched. I’m AVAILABLE NOW! Hire me for your TV story!!” he wrote.
The Recruit debuted in December 2022 and ran for two seasons, totaling fourteen episodes. The show focused on Noah Centineo’s character, Owen Hendricks, a young CIA lawyer who becomes embroiled in high-stakes international threatens after an informant threatens to reveal her agency ties.
Aarti Mann, Fivel Stewart, Vondie Curtis-Hall, Kaylah Zander, Kristian Bruun, Angel Parker, and Jesse Collin were all members of the ensemble cast. Along with Doug Liman, Gene Klein, David Bartis, Adam Ciralsky, Charlie Ebersol, and Julian Holmes, Centineo served as an executive producer on the Netflix series, which was created by Alexi Hawley and produced by Hypnotic and Lionsgate. Hawley, Holmes, Jessica Yu, Viet Nguyen, and John Hyams directed Season 2.
The Recruit had struggled with securing a third season, even with its high first ratings. In just four days, Season 2, one of Variety’s most anticipated shows of 2025, received 5.9 million views on Netflix, placing it second on the English-language TV chart (behind The Night Agent Season 2, which received 15.2 million views).
Fans will have to say goodbye to Owen Hendricks’ exploits and the show’s distinctive blend of humor and action following the official cancellation of The Recruit.
