NCAA Division I Rowing Championship History
The NCAA DI Rowing Championship has become a premier showcase of strength, endurance, and team unity since its official launch in 1997. Bringing together the nation’s top collegiate rowing programs, the championship features competition across First Eights, Second Eights, and Fours, with the team title determined by overall points.
In 2024, the University of Texas won the DI rowing national championship, earning 130 points to dethrone the reigning champions, Stanford. It marked a significant triumph for the Longhorns, who have rapidly emerged as a rowing powerhouse in recent years. Their win was built on strong performances across all boat classes and strategic consistency throughout the regatta.
Texas’s 2024 title is part of a growing legacy. The program has now won three NCAA rowing championships since 2021, signaling a new era of dominance.
Meanwhile, Stanford, the 2023 champions, and perennial contenders like Washington and California have long been forces in the sport, often appearing on the podium thanks to deep rosters and elite coaching.
