2025 NCAA Men’s Golf Championship teams in Carlsbad

The selections for the 2025 NCAA DI men’s golf championship were revealed. The championship qualifiers were announced after the regional round. The championship rounds at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California, are now underway and will conclude on May 28.

Schedule of the 2025 DI Men’s Golf Championships

- NOTE: The final team to advance will be decided in a playoff between Georgia Tech and Wake Forest that will be conducted on Monday at 8 a.m. PST. Georgia Tech and Wake Forest tied for 15th at 17-over 881 at the end of the third round. The following teams have advanced to the fourth and final round of stroke play on Monday:

How the championship works

To choose the 30 qualifying teams and six players (who are not on those qualifying teams) who will compete in the finals, six 54-hole regional competitions will be held. Each of the three regional tournaments will have 13 teams and 10 individuals who are not on those teams, while the remaining three regional tournaments will feature 14 teams and five persons who are not on those teams. The finals will be played between the bottom five teams and the lowest-ranked person who is not on those teams.

Six players and all 30 teams will play 54 holes of stroke play. The top eight teams for match-play competition and the 72-hole stroke-play individual champion will be determined by the top 15 teams and the top nine players who are not on an advancing team after 54 holes of competition. Following 72 holes of play, the top eight teams advance to a bracket.

Five points will be available in the team match-play competition, with one point given for each individual match. The teams that win move on to the semifinals and then the championship game. The team that advances or, in the case of the final match, becomes the national champion is the first to win three points in the team match.

History of championships

In 2024, Auburn defeated Florida State 3-2 in the championship match to win its first-ever NCAA DI men’s golf title. The Tigers were participating in the finals for the first time. View the complete history of the championship below:
