Customers can get a dozen doughnuts for free as a gift from Krispy Kreme in honor of its 88th birthday.

On Friday, July 18, you can get a second dozen Original Glazed doughnuts for 88 cents when you order any dozen doughnuts at the standard price. You can double up and get two 88-cent dozen when you buy two dozen at regular price when you drive through or buy in-store; online buyers can only order one dozen for pickup or delivery.

While supplies last, participating stores are offering a nice value. Use the coupon “BDAY” to receive the deal when placing your online order.

In a press statement, Alison Holder, the chief brand and product officer at Krispy Kreme, stated that “Eighty-eight has never felt and tasted so great.” “It’s a real joy every year celebrating Krispy Kreme’s birthday with our fans and treating them to a special deal. We’re so grateful for their love and loyalty.”

History of Krispy Kreme: From North Carolina to the world market

With its headquarters in Charlotte, North Carolina, Krispy Kreme today operates in over 40 countries and has more than 357 locations in the United States. Its doughnuts are now available for delivery via an app and online, and they are sold in thousands of supermarkets and convenience stores.

According to the Krispy Kreme website, Vernon Rudolph began the company in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, in 1937 after purchasing a secret recipe for yeast-raised doughnuts from a French chef in New Orleans.

Rudolph started selling doughnuts to supermarkets, but people started to notice how they smelled.

According to the chain’s news release celebrating its 88th birthday, “Passersby asked if they could buy hot, fresh doughnuts, enchanted by the irresistible scent of doughnut-making drifting into the streets.” “So, Rudolph cut a hole in an outside wall and began selling Original Glazed doughnuts directly to customers on the sidewalk.”

Newest on Krispy Kreme menu: Superhero doughnuts

As the new “Superman” film came out, the doughnut company created a “Hungry for Heroes” doughnut collection featuring DC Comics superheroes:

Superman Doughnut: An unglazed shell doughnut with white Kreme inside, dipped in light blue icing, and topped with clouds that taste like Superman buttercreme. It is adorned with a Superman image and a mixture of sprinkles.

A bat logo is placed on top of an unglazed shell doughnut that is filled with cookies and Kreme and dipped in black chocolate icing.

Wonder Woman Doughnut: An Original Glazed Doughnut with a Wonder Woman emblem and belt, dipped in red raspberry-flavored frosting, and sprinkled with blue sprinkles and white stars.

For a limited period, participating U.S. stores will sell the doughnuts individually and in a specially created dozen’s box. They may also be picked up or delivered through the Krispy Kreme app and website. The doughnuts were added to the menu on July 8.
