iOS 18.5 Update: Release Date, New Features & What to Expect

The next iPhone upgrade from Apple is almost here. When iOS 18.5 is released, it will most likely be among the final versions before the focus switches to iOS 19, which will be shown on Monday, June 9. Here is the latest estimate for the release date of iOS 18.5.

According to 9to5Mac, the.5 version of iOS software often releases in the middle of May. For example, iOS 17.5 was released on Monday, May 13 of last year. He stated last month that there was a good chance it will happen on May 13, a Tuesday this year.

Since iOS 17.6 was released in July and iOS 17.6.1 in August of last year, there may be additional iOS 18 releases. Following the original release of iOS 18, iOS 17.7 and 17.7.1 were made available in September, mostly for those who desired the most recent security updates but were reluctant to jump onto the new operating system so quickly. Nevertheless, iOS 18.5 is among the final.

This date and the day before, Monday, May 12, remain viable options. Though Monday has recently been a preferred day as well, Apple used to regularly favor Tuesday releases.

According to a recent report from 9to5Mac, iOS 18.5 contains few features and “very little has been changing from one beta update to the next.” Apple claims that it has little reason for extending the testing period.

Additionally, something else has occurred that only occurs when the final release is almost complete. Furthermore, Apple released the public and developer betas of iOS 18.5 and its companion updates on the same day this week. According to the article, this typically only occurs near the end of a beta cycle, when the launch is near.

Improved Siri is another reason. The promised Siri update with Apple Intelligence seems to be slowing things down earlier in the release cycle. Things seemed to pick up speed once more once Apple declared it would arrive later.

For all of those reasons, I’m sticking with my earlier prediction that, barring a last-minute problem, which would require the following week, Monday, May 12, or Tuesday, May 13 remain the most likely dates for iOS 18.5.

The Release Candidate’s appearance will be the next big indicator. It appears certain that the broad release will take place the next week if that occurs on Monday, May 5, or Tuesday, May 6.
