How to Watch ‘Wicked: One Wonderful Night’ Live — Streaming, Time & Platform Details

Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo hosting Wicked: One Wonderful Night

The musical special “Wicked: One Wonderful Night,” co-hosted by Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, will debut on Thursday night, bringing “Wicked” fans back to Oz.

“Wicked: One Wonderful Night” will give viewers the chance to hear some of their favorite songs come to life after the events of “Wicked,” including “Defying Gravity,” “Popular,” and a preview of songs like “For Good” and “The Girl in the Bubble.” The two-hour event may be streamed live on DirecTV and will air on NBC on Thursday, Nov. 6 at 8 p.m. ET. Starting on November 7, the show will also be accessible on Peacock.

Michelle Yeoh, Jeff Goldblum, Ethan Slater, Bowen Yang, and Marissa Bode will all make special cameos. Before “Wicked: For Good” opens in theaters on November 21, the special will feature a number of surprises from Emerald City, humorous moments, production numbers, and an exclusive look at the film.

The director of “Wicked,” Jon M. Chu, revealed the special during NBCUniversal’s upfront presentation to advertisers at Radio City Music Hall in New York in May. He noted that this is the first time that songs from the well-known Broadway show will appear on broadcast television in this style.

“It’s something that’s never been done in the 22-year history of ‘Wicked,’ and I am absolutely delighted to let you in on a centerpiece of our campaign for the second film,” Chu remarked. “In a one-time event from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles this fall, our stars, the amazing Cynthia Erivo and the radiant Ariana Grande, will be joined by their castmates and some wonderful surprise guests. They will perform live many of the songs from the first movie—and maybe a little bit from the second one as well—for a night of entertainment that we think will be, as they say in Oz, thrillifying.”

“Wicked: For Good” follows on a now-exiled Elphaba Thropp (Erivo) as she is persecuted as the Wicked Witch of the West, continuing the events of the previous movie. While Elphaba is shunned by Emerald City, Glinda (Grande) now lives there and will soon marry Fiyero (Jonathan Bailey). Elphaba will need to get back together with Glinda in order to affect the future of Oz and reform herself when an enraged mob rises against her.

On DirecTV, watch “Wicked: One Wonderful Night” live.
