How to Really Save Money on Amazon Prime Day 2025

Amazon Prime Day 2025 shopping tips

Amazon is an expansive e-commerce platform, and with Prime Day lasting a full four days this year, participating in the event could easily feel like a full-time job. Fortunately for you, it is indeed a full-time job for us. We tirelessly search the internet to uncover the best products and deals that are genuinely worthwhile, including discounts on essentials, audio equipment, and much more.

With offers that seem too good to be true and discounts that appear more significant than they actually are, it’s all too simple to be tricked into spending more on items you don’t really need. That’s why we created this guide to help you shop smarter and truly save money during Prime Day.

When Is Prime Day?

Prime Day takes place from July 8-11, but many of the top deals begin early. This marks the first year that Prime Day has evolved into a weeklong event, following previous years when it lasted just two days.

Get a Free Membership

If you don’t currently hold an Amazon membership, you can sign up for a 30-day free trial of Amazon Prime to benefit from the deals, and you can cancel if you find it’s not suitable for you. While a lot of the offers during Prime Day do require a Prime membership, not all of them do.

Compare Retailers

Amazon doesn’t always offer the lowest prices, and if you like to shop at different stores, you can frequently find deals comparable to Prime Day from other retailers on the same items, including Target and Walmart. While Amazon Prime is convenient for many things, other retailers often provide a wider variety of categories, such as clothing. For instance, Nordstrom’s Anniversary Sale kicks off on July 12.

Check the Seller

It’s a common misconception that everything purchased on Amazon is sold by Amazon itself, but the platform features thousands of third-party sellers, not all of whom are trustworthy. You can verify a seller’s reputation by clicking on their name located beneath the “add to cart” button. Generally, we believe it’s safest to purchase directly from Amazon.

Monitor Prices

Utilizing a price history tracker is also a wise choice. Amazon occasionally raises a product’s list price artificially to enhance the appeal of a deal. Tools like Keepa, which can be added as a browser extension, allow you to monitor the historical prices of items on Amazon.

CamelCamelCamel provides an extension known as The Camelizer, which reveals the historical price of any item you’re viewing. If you’re in the market for a particular product and wish to receive notifications when it goes on sale, you can set up an alert with CamelCamelCamel’s price-drop feature, which will notify you via email when your selected item is discounted.

While CamelCamelCamel and Keepa are useful, they are limited to Amazon (and eBay in the case of Keepa). For tracking prices at other retailers during sales events, you can utilize Google Chrome’s price tracking tool, which will automatically notify you of discounts just by bookmarking the product.
