How to Make Your Own Camera Filter on a Samsung Galaxy Phone

Samsung Galaxy phone are celebrated for their impressive cameras and integrated photography features. One standout aspect is the Camera app’s array of filters, enabling users to elevate their images with preset tweaks to contrast, saturation, and color balance. However, if the available filters don’t quite fit your aesthetic, Samsung provides an exciting opportunity to design your own custom camera filter using any image from your gallery. This functionality allows you to capture the color and tone of a chosen photo and use it as a filter for your future captures. To create and save a personalized camera filter on your Samsung Galaxy device, simply follow these steps:

Step 1: Open the Camera App

Launch your Camera app on your Samsung phone.

Step 2: Select Photo Mode

Swipe to ensure you are in Photo mode before proceeding.

Step 3: Access the Filter Menu

Tap the three overlapping circles in the top-right corner of the screen. This will open the filter selection menu.

Step 4: Add a New Custom Filter

Tap the plus (+) icon next to the existing filters to create a new one.

Step 5: Choose a Reference Image

Browse your gallery and select an image with the color tone and style you want to replicate. Your Samsung device will analyze the image and generate a matching filter.

Step 6: Preview and Adjust Your Filter

A preview of your camera view will appear with the new filter applied. Below, you’ll see the selected reference image.

  • Press and hold the preview to temporarily remove the filter and compare the effect.
  • Tap and adjust the reference image to focus on a specific area for more precise color extraction.
  • Rename your filter by tapping its name and selecting “Rename” to save it under a custom title.

Step 7: Save Your Custom Filter

Once you’re happy with how it looks, tap “Done” to save your new filter.

For fine-tuning, while Samsung doesn’t currently allow full manual adjustments for color temperature, contrast, and saturation when creating a custom filter, you can modify an existing one by selecting it and tapping the adjustment bar beneath its name. Drag the slider to refine the effect, and your device will automatically save these changes. If you wish to revert to the original settings, just tap the reset button next to the filter’s name.

With this feature, you can craft personalized filters that reflect your unique style and elevate your photography experience on your Samsung Galaxy phone!
