  • The 2025 HBCU football season begins with the MEAC/SWAC Challenge on Saturday, Aug. 23.
  • The 2025 FCS Playoffs start on the weekend of Saturday, Nov. 29.
  • The 2025 SWAC Football Championship Game is on Saturday, Dec. 6.

At the FCS level, Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) have 21 football programs. The Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) or the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) are the main leagues in which FCS HBCU football programs compete.
