The third annual Grant Thornton Invitational will be held at Tiburon Golf Club in Naples, Florida, from December 12 to 14. Here’s what you need to know about the team event.

What are the teams?

There are 16 two-player teams made up of PGA Tour and LPGA members.

What’s the format?

The 54-hole event features scramble, foursomes, and mixed fourball variants. Here is a breakdown of those three, according to tournament officials:

Round 1: Scramble.

Each player hits a tee shot, then the team decides which ball will be used for the next stroke. Both players took their next shots from that place. This process will continue until the ball is holed.

Round 2: foursomes (alternate shot).

Each team’s players take turns hitting shots with the same ball until it is holed. One player will tee off on the odd-numbered holes while the other tees off on the even-numbered ones.

Round 3: Modified Fourballs

Both players tee off, then switch balls for their second shots, playing the same ball until it is holed. The lowest score of the partners is then considered the team score for the hole.
