Google Messages Rolls Out ‘Delete for Everyone’ Feature

According to reports, Google is introducing a feature that lets users remove messages for all participants in a group RCS conversation. More control over chats is given to users by the feature, especially when a message is mistakenly sent or needs to be retracted. In the past, users could only withdraw a message they had sent for themselves, which meant that it was no longer visible to others but was deleted from their own device.

According to a 9To5Google report, users can now choose to “Delete for Everyone” to erase a message from the entire conversation, rendering it invisible to everyone else. However, recipients using older versions of the app could still be able to see messages.

The ability to edit messages, recall outgoing messages, and delete them for both sender and receiver are among the additional capabilities included in Universal Profile 2.7, which is linked to a wider rollout of this features.

In a huge group conversation with 12 participants, a beta user reportedly noticed the “Delete for Everyone” feature. Smaller group chats and one-on-one talks did not have it, indicating that the rollout might be phased in or limited to beta testers for the time being.

New “Unsubscribe” feature to reduce spam

In addition, Google is implementing a tool called “Unsubscribe” in its communications app to assist users in controlling unwanted messages. The new tool, which aims to reduce business-generated SMS and RCS spam, provides an unsubscribe button for marketing and promotional information.

By maintaining the message interface clear and clutter-free and reducing unnecessary messages, the change helps users better manage their inboxes.
