Google Doodle celebrates the Poland’s National Day

Today’s Doodle honors Narodowe Święto Niepodległości, Poland’s National Day. After a century of division, Poland regained its independence on this day in 1918, the end of World War I.

Poland’s national colors, red and white, which date back to the 13th century, are now seen everywhere. The nation’s lively mood is displayed by the painting of faces, the waving of flags from buildings, and the sea of red and white shirts that line the streets. Parades bring towns to life with their sights and noises. In Warsaw, smaller parades reverberate with marching bands and spectator cheers as “The March of Independence” moves across Constitution Square, complete with red flares.
